Today we are going to talk about proactive, the most popular and most discussed product in the acne market. I believe most of you have used proactive before, and I’m pretty sure most of you did not get the results you expect to see after seeing so many celebrities holding high regards for proactive. Basically the proactive treatment system comes in 3 sets let’s talk about how special proactive is compared to other acne products.
The first that comes to the list is the proactive renewing cleanser. The special and good thing about it is that it exfoliates your skin and get rid of the pesky dead skin cells. After it got rid of the dead skin cell, it will than remove excess oil and also gets rid of dead skin cells underneath the skin.
The second that comes to the list is the proactiv acne solution revitalizing toner. Nothing special about it, like any revitalizing toner, it will help to even your skin tone.
The last that comes to the list is the proactive acne solution repairing lotion. While it claims that it is able to prevent future outbreaks, I don’t think they will be able to fulfil the promise. Also, constantly removing excess oil and killing bacteria WILL NOT be enough to prevent future outbreaks.
To make myself clearer on how I think about proactive, I think it has not much different from any benzoyl peroxide bottle you buy from your nearby supermarket, other than price tag of course. The only special thing about proactive is that, it exfoliate the skin before it tries to gets rid of bacteria. This is one important aspects that have been neglected by many people, to exfoliate skin before trying to get rid of bacteria. This is because the dead skin cells will act as an “barrier” to protect the bacteria hiding under the skin.
User reviews
To conclude what the users thinks about proactive after they use proactive, I do not think you should buy proactive. Firstly, proactive is not as skin friendly as what it sounds to be. Many users have experience skin dryness after using it for some time. Also, many users have notice that the moment they stopped using it, acne outbreaks comes back again.
While for some people, proactive works in controlling their acne. But the problem is that it can cause flaky skin, hence using it for a long period of time is impractical. Another thing is that it seems to only work for mild or moderate acne, for those with severe acne, proactive will NOT work for you.
Conclusion
If you are an mild acne sufferer, you could consider proactive. If you are a moderate acne sufferer, than I think you should consider some other better acne product. If you are a severe acne sufferer, than you should NOT waste your time with proactive.
To recommend an acne product that is definitely better than proactive, I would recommend Clearogen. See my review on clearogen and why I think it is definitely better than proactive.
