Are you a mother with a boy suffering for teen acne? Or is your boyfriend having problem with teen acne outbreaks?

It may seem that boys does not care much of how they looks, but actually, acne can create the similar social and physiological effects on guys just as what they did to girls. Boys tend to be confuse of how to handle their acne, most of them don’t even know where to start. This is because most skincare products are directed to women.

I recently came across a press release that talks about this issue. Read this interesting press release that talks about teen boys acne.

My 16 year old son suffers from acne and we’ve tried many of the over the counter products. Most of them contain Salicylic acid and don’t really do anything for him except leave his skin very dry. I tried to do some research on my own and found this site: http://campusacnetruth.org/default.aspx. Based on the stuff there and your blog post my son needs something especially for his gender. Do you know if such a treatment exists?

Your boy is 16, than he must be having puberty now. Firstly, high chance the acne comes from the hormonal imbalance.

Normal over-the-counter products only kill bacteria, unclogged pores ect ect, they do nothing to balance hormones level.

If you read http://campusacnetruth.org/html/acne_gender.html from the link you gave me, it says that boys tend to have higher testosterone.

Your body need an acne product that can balance his hormones level. My recommendation is Clearogen, it is a product that reduce testosterone level in one’s body, hence is able to control hormones level. You can read my blog post on Clearogen here.

If you are considering buying proactiv or murad for your son, I do not recommend it. Those products did nothing to control hormones level.

I think I’ve been having the same problem as your son. I have 3 sisters and they have all had success with their acne, while I have not. I looked at the information on that web site and it provides the only explanation that I can find.

I’ve been looking around for a gender-specific acne treatment but I’ve had no luck whatsoever. I do know for fact though, that salicylic acid is the way to go. Benzoyl peroxide and other ingredients can be very irritating to your skin.

I’ve also found that a lot of the major acne treatments contain harmful ingredients called parabens which have been linked to cancer and banned in Europe. I’ve been very careful ever since I learned this. So, you should read all the labels when shopping.

I just came across an acne treatment that addresses the concerns that we’ve been discussing here.

It’s called CTRL. It deals with the hormones of boys and girls separately. It’s the first gender-specific treatment I’ve seen on the market. Reasonably priced too.

I would say that it’s your best bet.

It’s also natural and paraben-free, which is always a good thing.
