acne diet
I have been breaking out really bad for the past 4 months or so. The dermatologist said that diet and acne have no connection and she keeps wanting me to go on accutane. I really don’t want to. Do you think that if I cut out sweets and chocolates (must have one of these daily in order to live, lol) that my acne will improve significantly?

What worked for me was drinking an extra glass of water each day, just one and i noticed a significant difference immediately.

Frankly, I think your dermatologist is an idiot… and I think you are smart to not believe him/her.

I’ve posted this time and time again…but studies have shown that people from other cultures that eat a good diet almost never breakout with pimples…even when their hormones are supposedly fluctuating when going through puberty.

But as soon as they changed their diets, acne started to flare up like crazy.

My dad has severe acne and I used to have severe acne too…BUT when I changed my diet (no milk, no refined carbs, more fruits and vegetables, more whole grains) and also take a vitamin supplement.

Two Harvard studies found positive correlation to milk and acne…as you’ll see in the sources I have provide below.

My acne breakouts much less now. I have the occassional pimple here and there, but it was a drastic improvement of what I used to have.

So what I suggest is to change your diet and lifestyle instead for your adult acne. Oh eat a good acne supplement for added insurance.

After doing all this, I’m confident you will surprise your dermatologist on the next visit…if you need it.

I had a friend who had a chinese accupuncturist prescribe a two week diet: lots of well-ripened fresh fruits; as much as you want; tomato-cucumber-avocado-chives salad covered with lots of extra virgin olive oil; and sashimi (sushi without rice). Everyday for 2 weeks, it had a dramatic effect. Then she started incorporating those foods into her normal diet.

From my experience, NO.

Acne is caused because of hormonal imbalance.

The most recent studies indicate that diet does not affect acne whatsoever. So for the most part, that is all a myth.

Might I ask though, why are you so averse to accutane? Drugs can be intimidating, but honestly, accutane turned out to be a miracle for me. Three years ago, I did not have very severe acne but it was enough to make me not want to look people in the eye. I was the opposite of confident, and my self-esteem was at an all-time low. Shortly after the acne started to pull me into depression, I went on a 5-month cycle of accutane. After that 5th month, I had no acne left at ALL! That was three years ago, and since then, I have probably only had five little zits show up. It is such a relief to not have to worry about a problem like acne anymore. I really do suggest giving accutane a try. The horror stories that come with it are exaggerated. Side effects are minimal and in the long run it will make you a happier person!
