i looked for years for the perfect product, did all the right things, cleansed, toned, exfoliated, clean and clear, clearasil, water, fruit and veg – but finally found what the doctor gave me changed my skin forever. go and talk to your gp and even if you have mild acne they can subscribe you something really effective.

My goodness, lots of pimple/acne questions today . . .I’m going to give you a version of an answer I just posted on this o.k.?

Dealing with acne (teenage or adult) takes a two pronged approach: what you do internally re: diet and what you put on your skin. Dietary-wise drink lots of water, get rid of any type of sweetened drinks such as soda, juice or alcohol, eat lots of veggies, get healthy fats and proteins and minimize foods that spike insulin levels such as refined grains and sugars at the insulin surge can increase sebum . . the excess oils that contribute to acne. We have five kids, ages 13-24 and they all have great skin, mostly because we followed these principles with them. They had the occasional outbreak (i.e. under a baseball cap brim after an afternoon of skateboarding or with my daughter a little pimple here and there around her period) but really have great skin overall because of the choices they make re: food.

Externally, find natural products that don’t clog pores, don’t use chemicals to maybe short term help the acne but long term disrupt hormones or cause cancers. That means a multi-step approach such as a cleanser, a conditioner and a moisturizer. They should be formulated for oily skin and really feed and nourish the skin, not just dry it out. I also recommend that my clients (I’m a holistic nutritionist) use ONEgroup/Miessence’s Purifying Essentials pack and Purifying Blemish Gel for spot treatments . . works fast and the best thing . . it is actually good for the skin/body. (My kids don’t have oily skin so just use the Balancing set . . that is more for normal/T-zone skin.) It can take a while to get rid of the acne, particularly when it is spreading to various places on the body, but the two step, inside and outside approach is the best long term way to do get rid of it and keep it from coming back!

1 tsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. honey
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. toothpaste
2 crushed aspirin tablets.

put this on your zits and leave it overnight, do this for a few days and it really helps! :) also, adding a few drops of lemon juice or tea tree oil to your toner can help clear up breakouts and acne scars.

Hope I helped!
